Teaching in 2021

During my holiday break, I received the text that virtual learning would continue the week we return to school. It’s safe to say almost every teacher has experienced some form of virtual teaching in 2020 and now 2021. In this blog post, I wanted to talk about some items I purchased that SAVED my sanity while teaching virtually and in person. No matter where or how you are teaching this year, these items have been a GAME CHANGER for me and how I teach! I do receive a small commission when you use my links below. Thank you for shopping through my links!

TEACHER MICROPHONE HEADSET

My teacher microphone headset has me feeling like a 90’s popstar! Teaching through a mask is NOT easy, but this headset has made it much smoother. I love this headset because you can easily charge it at the end of the day and it does a great job of amplifying your voice! I also think it's helpful why when your throat may be dry or if you start to lose your voice during the cold/flu season. Even once learning returns to “normal” I think you will still find me using it!

CLEAR ACRYLIC RISER

If you use a second monitor, having a riser is a great addition to your desk setup! This makes it easy to move your mouse back and forth between screens and puts your monitor at a better height for your eyes, helping to avoid major back pain by the end of the day. I love this acrylic one because it is stylish and not distracting!

LAPTOP STAND

This laptop stand is HANDS DOWN one of my best Amazon purchases of the year! I love how easy it is to put together and how sturdy it is! I use this both at home and school and absolutely love it! This laptop stand helps to elevate your computer and gives you more desk space (I like to keep my clipboard of important papers underneath it!)

PORTABLE LAPTOP STAND

Since my Makerspace would not allow for my students to social distance, I was moved to teaching on a cart this year. As the Technology and STEAM teacher, I wanted to create a setup for my laptop that didn’t require me to use the classroom teacher’s computer. I also wanted to get something that would raise up my laptop so that I wouldn’t be hunched over my computer all day. I found this portable laptop stand on Amazon and decided to give it a try! I love how it has an attachment for your mouse as well!

HUE HD PRO DOCUMENT CAMERA

If you like to use a whiteboard to teach, you will LOVE the Hue Document Camera! It will mirror anything you display under the camera and you can even use it when sharing your screen! It has a flexible neck so you can easily adjust the height and comes with a case to easily transport it to and from school. It is very lightweight and easy to use!
