ROYGBIV Organization!

As an art teacher, I love a good rainbow! 🌈 I like to surround myself with rainbows in my office, at school, and even in my car! The bright colors make me happy and inspire me to keep going, even on hard days. When it comes to organizing my classroom, I use ROYGIV organization! Here are a few reasons why I LOVE using the rainbow as my organization guide:

Functional system

When you organize in rainbow order, you create a system that is easy for your students to follow. They will begin to learn what color bin or basket to look for when they need a specific material so they don’t have to ask where to find supplies each time they need it. You can easily say “The glue sticks are in the purple bin” and your students will know where to look.

Clean up

When it is time to clean up after an activity, students will be able to put away supplies quickly once they learn the ROYGBIV system. It’s like the saying “everything has a place and everything in its place”. Creating a ROYGBIV system will help with your classroom management and overall traffic flow as well!

It’s Pretty!

While this might not be the most important reason, keeping your room clean and organized will make it visually appealing and reduce stress for you and your students. The rainbow order is universal and brings a sense of calm and order.
