This weekend, I will be attending the Gentleman of the Road (GOTR) Festival in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The headlining band is one of my all-time favorites, Mumford and Sons!! I have been a fan of theirs for awhile now, but I truly fell in love after watching the concert documentary, Big Easy Express. If you haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend watching it below!
What I love about this band is their complete dedication to the production of music. The viewer follows the band (with fellow tourmates Old Crow Medicine Show and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros) as they spend an entire tour traveling across country on a train to play shows. The amazing thing is that not one member was on their phone throughout the film. No texting. No Laptops. No distractions. The bands on the tour spent their time “off” making even more music. It inspired me to make more art and appreciate the beauty that surrounds me.
Mumford & Sons are from London, England but have made an impact worldwide. It’s hard to believe the band only formed eight years ago. In 2013, Mumford and Sons won Album of the Year at the Grammys for their best selling album, Babel. Some of my favorite Mumford & Sons songs include: I Will Wait, Babel, Lover of the Light, and Hopeless Wanderer. I will be live posting photographs of the festival to my Instagram @hipsterartteacher. You can also follow my hashtag #hipsterplaylistlive to view photos of the event, which will be posted to the blog soon! I can’t wait to share my review of the show with you! Leave a comment below telling me what band you’ve been dying to see live 🙂
